ECHO Teens: Behind the Lens project

The HRC was proud to support the ECHO Teens: Behind the Lens project, organised by the Evelina Children’s Heart Organisation. On 29 March 2025, twenty young people affiliated with ECHO—either living with a congenital heart condition or as siblings of those who are—came together for a collaborative workshop alongside HRC Heart Diseases in Children Theme Lead Dr Kuberan Pushparaja. The purpose of this initiative was twofold: firstly, to empower ECHO teens to create video resources aimed at reducing feelings of isolation and ‘otherness’ among peers with congenital heart disease (CHD), while simultaneously developing confidence, employability skills, friendships, and a strong sense of community to bolster their resilience. Secondly, the workshop provided an inclusive and supportive space for meaningful exchange of experiences and perspectives between ECHO teens and researchers from King’s, fostering deeper engagement with heart research.
