HRC team at Houses of Parliament

Several of the HRC – our Joint methodology theme leads Anna Barnes and Emmanuel Akinluyi, together with and Dijana Vilic (Head of the Trust’s Clinical Scientific Computing team) were invited to the houses of Parliament on Tuesday 11th February. Anna Barnes was invited to present to MPs and members of the house of Lords Parliamentary and Science Committee on how the scientific workforce is essential to face the big challenges in the NHS in the immediate future. This is one of our focuses within the Methodology theme, and we are taking steps as an HRC to attract, and train future (30 more by ’30) HealthTech Researcher form this workforce .
The presentation was well received and all attendees were invite to dinner at Port Cullis House to discuss this in further in detail: Funding for more training places and training providers as well as a request to feature “healthcare scientist” in all press releases related to Medical Technology in the NHS. This will be followed up by an article published in the Science In Parliament Quarterly Journal.
